About Brave Care

Brave Care is a pediatric healthcare startup whose mission is to help every child reach their full potential. Founded in 2019, they set out to better the pediatric care experience for patients, parents, and providers. We operate clinics nationwide and design and build the software that powers those clinics ourselves.

The problem

Healthcare software tools are notoriously disjointed and inefficient. They’re hard to navigate, slow, and different systems don’t communicate or share data effectively. Brave Care’s product team aimed to streamline and enhance every aspect of the care experience by designing and building people-centered software solutions in-house.

The solution

Our two key priorities are making it easier for parents to manage their children's health and reducing administrative burdens for staff, allowing more time for personalized care and support. Working alongside the Brave Care product team, and in partnership with our Clinic staff, I designed a suite of internal clinic software and parent tools that support the lifecycle of a 5-star care experience.

Patient experience

A seamless digital to in-clinic experience with the Brave Care app

The Brave Care mobile app makes it easy for caregivers to stay on top of their kiddo’s health. Parents get 24/7 access to pediatric experts with Chat, real-time recommendations with a kid’s Symptom Checker, and easy appointment booking & management.

Brave Care Chat: Personalized care and peace of mind with 24/7 access to pediatric experts

Parents can sign-up for the app’s premium feature, Brave Care Chat, where they can chat with a pediatric nurse anytime and get advice on a range of topics from illnesses, lactation, sleep, behavioral and mental health.

Real-time recommendations with a kid’s Symptom Checker

Parents can use the kid’s Symptom Checker to get advice for when to stay home, visit urgent care or take their kiddo to the ER based on their child’s symptoms.

Custom iconography

Simple appointment scheduling & management

If in-person or virtual care is needed, the app makes it easy to schedule, manage and check-in for appointments. Automated communications throughout the patient’s care journey empower patients to stay on top of appointment next steps with email confirmations and SMS reminders.

Convenient digital patient check-in

Parents can save time by checking in before they arrive through the Brave Care app or with the Check-in App in-clinic. At reception, parents are greeted with an iPad that allows them to complete the check-in process digitally with paperless intake forms, insurance scans, and identification capture. Patient data is instantly uploaded into the Visits App for the Care Staff.

Provider experience

Reducing administrative burden and improving staff efficiency with the Visits App

A comprehensive web app that serves as a centralized hub for clinic operations. The Visits App optimizes front desk workflows, allowing the Care Team to efficiently manage patient and appointment information.

It is seamlessly integrated with the Scheduling App, Check-In App, Brave Care App, and electronic health records (EHR) so gathering and moving data is automated and secure. Less time on manual entry means improved accuracy, a more streamlined workflow, and more time engaging with the patient.

By bridging the digital and in-clinic experiences, Brave Care's software solutions create a seamless journey for patients while empowering providers to deliver exceptional care.
